Royal Visit: Ghana, Suriname & The Netherlands 2025

Honouring heritage, restoring connection and building the future together

In November 2025, three continents will come together for a historic working visit that celebrates healing, collaboration and shared history between Ghana, Suriname and the Netherlands.

From Ghana, His Royal Highness Daasebre Dr. Twum Ampofo II, King and traditional leader of the Asiakwa region (Eastern Region), will travel with his royal delegation (Nananom) to the Netherlands and Suriname as part of Srefidensi 2025, marking 50 years of Surinamese independence.

This journey symbolises a renewed relationship between the African continent, the African diaspora, and nations historically connected through centuries of intertwined heritage.

About the Royal Visit Project

The project began with powerful cultural and ancestral milestones:

– The first Keti Koti remembrance in Ghana
– Ghanaian and Nigerian royals & chiefs gathering at Tori Oso in the Netherlands
– Kabra Teri ceremonies in Suriname (honouring the ancestors)

Project

These events laid the foundation for a working visit that connects three continents through:
education and youth empowerment, sustainable economic collaboration, and spiritual and cultural remembrance.

Goals

Purpose and Vision

The royal working visit seeks to:

  • Empower and educate youth and communities, strengthening awareness and leadership through education and heritage exchange.
  • Build sustainable diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana, Suriname and the Netherlands, fostering innovation, trade and social entrepreneurship.

Restore spiritual and cultural recognition through remembrance, ritual and intercultural dialogue with Maroon, Indigenous and diaspora communities.

Purpose and Vision

Together, these aims form a bridge between past, present and future, creating space for transformation and long-term collaboration between Africa and its diasporas.
